Facilities
The Traidhos campus is located in a quiet, rural and safe environment, surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Chiang Mai
Accommodation
There is a range of on-site accommodation available including dormitory rooms, apartments, and a hotel. Most of our school groups stay in basic but comfortable apartments with communal areas and en suite bedrooms. Each bedroom can sleep up to four people on bunk beds. Staff will share a gender specific apartment but have private en suite bedrooms. The staff apartments are located within the student buildings for supervision. All our accommodation is equipped with air conditioning, hot water, WiFi access and is serviced by our housekeeping team.
Cafeteria
Our cafeteria caters for hundreds of people of all nationalities on a daily basis and serves a wide variety of tasty and healthy food. Thai, Western and various themed foods from around the world are offered, including an extensive salad bar and fresh fruit. We can cater for all dietary needs whether they are for medical or religious reasons, and our chefs are very experienced in providing meals for specific allergies. Before your group arrives in Thailand we ask for details of any dietary requirements so we can make sure that throughout your visit, whether on or off campus, all your needs are met.
Medical Care
We have a fully equipped medical centre at Traidhos, and 24 hour care is provided by our team of qualified nurses. In the event of anyone needing further medical attention or consultation with a doctor, a vehicle is on standby at all times to go to a hospital in the city, and we have an ambulance in case of emergency. Out in the field the VSP staff carry first aid kits and are Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) trained and certified. For every activity and at all locations we visit, a support vehicle is always available in case of any emergency or medical evacuation.
Security
Traidhos is a secure area that has dedicated security staff on duty 24 hours patrolling the entire campus, with a controlled entry point at the main front gate. Key parts of the campus and all residential areas are covered by CCTV for additional protection. In some of the rooms allocated to visiting staff we provide a lockable cabinet for valuables such as passports, but we ask that students be responsible for their belongings which should be locked in suitcases.
Transport
Our fleet of modern vans seat up to nine people each, have air conditioning and are fitted with seatbelts. Large comfortable buses used for airport runs also have seatbelts fitted. For some activities we have to use durable trucks to access remote areas where there are not any tarmac roads, and these have bench seats in the rear, but are not fitted with seat belts. If you need vehicles that have seatbelts throughout your visit, please let us know, and we can choose suitable activities and locations that vans can access.
WiFi
All our accommodation and classrooms have WiFi access. It is password protected so that visiting teachers can decide whether or not this facility is available to students. We also provide a small suite of computers that students can use to stay in touch with family and friends in the evenings, or at set times during the visit. Tablet and phone use by students is at the discretion of each school, but we request that phones etc are not carried by students out on activities during the day.
Sports Facilities
We have a large gymnasium, a fitness room, tennis and squash courts, football pitches, basketball courts, golf driving ranges and a cricket pitch on campus. We can supply general sports equipment and balls for our guests to use in recreational time. Some sport activities need to be booked in advance so we ask that you advise us of any sports facilities that you would like prior to arrival so we can check for availability.
Swimming Pool
Our swimming pool complex comprises several pools complete with changing areas and showers. We have a 50m pool with a varying depth of up to 2m, a medium sized pool that is around 1m depth, and a shallow pool that is ideal for beginners to have fun. The pool is available for everyone to use, but visiting staff must accompany students at all times in the pool area as they cannot swim unsupervised. We may be able to supply a lifeguard on request.
Campus Spaces
Traidhos is located in a serene natural area on a large and beautiful campus shared by the many people within our community. The international school, boarding and staff residential areas are out of bounds to our visitors but we have plenty of other shared spaces that everyone can enjoy in this tranquil and inspiring location.
Classrooms and Sala
VSP has dedicated classrooms our groups can use for a variety of uses, such as group meetings, reflections, computer use, or a space for data analysis after fieldwork studies. We can also provide projectors and stationery if needed. We also have a Sala area that can be used as a recreational evening space for games and relaxation, as well as activities.
Located near to the accommodation and classrooms, is a shop open all day until early evening selling snacks and drinks. Next door is The Club, a small restaurant offering a good choice of popular dishes from around the world. The Banana Café offers great coffee and smoothies.
It would be a shame to visit Chiang Mai and not enjoy a traditional Thai massage. Offering a full range of massages, manicures, pedicures and body treatments, our on-campus spa can provide much needed pampering for staff during downtime. Treatments and prices are available upon request.
