Painting and Playing at Cho Lae Kindergarten
While HKIS were on their tour of northern Thailand with VSP, they got themselves stuck into some community service work for a local kindergarten. Cho Lae Kindergarten had been awarded funding by the government to build a new school. With the school almost complete, HKIS were asked to paint the fence around the whole of the school as their project.
This two-day project saw HKIS facing both hot sun and heavy rain. But despite all of this, the students carried on their hard work and were determined to finish the job. They managed to get the whole of the base coat down on the fence the first day, and complete the fence on the second. Students also got to interact with the local children in the school, through the use of language cards and games. HKIS students said that “my most memorable experience was community service with the kids; it was great to see their happy smiles”, “playing duck, duck, goose with the little kids was fun” and “the most interesting thing I learnt was about the kids in the school and all of their different backgrounds”.
HKIS really embraced their community service and we thank you for all of your hard work over the two days.
